Zapping of sympathetic nerves in kidney to treat hypertension, and thus lowering cardiovascular risk- by Law JIA JUIN

BY LAW JIA JUIN
About 15% of the hypertensive population is faced with treatment-resistant high blood pressure, meaning their blood pressure cannot be controlled with a full dose of 3 drugs. This condition carries a high cardiovascular risk.

Since previous study had shown that sympathetic nerve of patients kidneys are activated in the case of normal hypertension and treatment resistant hypertension ,a new treatment procedure had been discovered and established recently. This newly introduced procedure can decrease the blood pressure by 32/12mmhg when used together with routine antihypertensive drugs.

So what is this procedure? This newly discovered treatment involves the zapping of sympathetic nerves in patients kidney ,this is done by distributing radio frequency energy into the targeted site of kidneys
